Things That Make You Go Hmmm

In all of this, it is the spirit that matters. Our Scout law and Promise, when we really put them into practice, take away all occasion for wars and strife among nations. -Sir Robert Baden Powell
Scouting has a long tradition of reinforcing values young men will use throughout their life.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. -Proverbs 22:6
Support Scouting today to ensure the values of tomorrow!
A Scout is Reverent - and Troop 98 is a Christian based Boy Scout Troop
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes -Romans 1:16

Welcome to the Boy Scout Troop 98 Web site!
(Be sure to hit the "REFRESH" Button on your browser for the most recent copy of this page)
The purpose of our site is to help the members of Troop 98 get the most out of their Boy Scouting experience and to provide resources for our parents and leaders.
This is the stop to make for all sorts of information about Troop 98 and its scheduled activities.
Inside you'll find resources such as activity calendars, meeting information, recruitment, uniforming, and maps to events.
Troop 98 meets weekly from September to May on Mondays from 6:30pm until 8pm, following the PEC School calendar.
We meet at Paradise Education Center on the Southwest corner of Reems and Paradise Lane (across from Radiant Church).
Browse through all of our links to the left of the page to easily navigate your way through our site.
Boy Scouts in Troop 98 must be in or past the 6th grade, and are part of the Boy Scouts of America, and must meet and maintain the levels of achievement, behavior, participation, and excellence as set by the Scoutmaster. Troop 98 is a family oriented high adventure group that requires much parental involvement and support. This is not your ordinary Troop, and will test your boys physically, mentally, and spiritually!
If you would like to join Troop 98 or desire more detailed information, then make sure you click on the Recruitment links to the left, and contact us to see about the possibility of membership.
NOTE:
The 12th point of the Scout Law is: “A Scout is Reverent”. Part of our Scout Oath reads: “…To do my duty to God…”
We take this seriously and as such, Troop 98 is a CHRISTIAN based Troop. We pray regularly at meetings, events, and over our meals. We do not follow the “all paths lead to God” philosophy and are not ashamed to make this declaration.
We do not water this concept down and may even teach out of the Bible at meetings or outings. If you are not comfortable with this, then we suggest you look for a different Troop as we will not change our moral compass to fit what others may deem as politically correct.
DAILY DEVOTIONAL:
2-26 “Anyone who wants to live all out for Christ is in for a lot of trouble; there’s no getting around it” (2 Timothy 3:12).
I was reading about William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. The early Salvationists were greatly persecuted in London. When, with his early crop of workers, he began preaching in front of saloons and dens of vice, mobs of ruffians and drunks were instigated to disrupt and, if possible, stop the efforts. Booth and his workers often returned to their quarters with bloodied faces and rotten egg-splattered uniforms. But they kept right on.
The Religious Tract Society reported: In various places gangs sprung up composed of the worst hooligans of the district, who, primed with drink, followed and brutally ill-treated the defenseless Salvationists.
Magistrates withheld police protection. Salvationists were blamed, frequently sent to prison and fined, for breaches of the peace caused entirely by their enemies.
Mocking detractors once pelted them with live coals or dead cats as they sang outside saloons. At least they were noticed. Today, Salvation Army officers complain of public apathy over their preaching.
Thomas A Kempis said, “It is preferable to have the whole world against you, than Jesus offended with you.”
“Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin”(Psalm 51:1).
